What are some of the “New Green Career” industries? Here are 5 of them for you think:
Recently, we have been asked by a large number of LinkedIn members regarding where we think New Green Career will be, what industries are likely to create most jobs, and what “current professions” can be transitioned into. We are currently preparing our Green Career Guide, and here are some interesting findings we have identified that we would like to share with other LinkedIn members.
Opportunity 1: From auditing to Green auditing, this is a growing opportunity for those currently in accounting firms or consultancy firms, “Green Auditing” is now a mandatory requirement for many countries, to assess if companies have met with their obligations in reducing carbon footprint.
Opportunity 2: Environmental Financial Analysts: Growing number of investment firms are hiring environmental engineers as Industry Analysts to carry out due diligence of their deals or technical analysis, this is not something you can learn from MBA, and can only learn from industry experience. If you are an environmental engineer and have some understanding of financial jargon, then your career prospect is quite good.
Opportunity 3: Multilingual professionals. Hardly a surprise, and if you look at top exporting markets for “Green Products”, they are: China , Japan , Middle East, also Latin America . If you are bi-lingual, you should consider a new career in environmental industries; this will be a promising job. You should also consider joining environmental engineering firms as business development managers.
Opportunity 4: Green Career for online marketing professionals: We have seen promising career for those in online marketing, green industry is the one embracing Social Media Marketing extensively, if you are an online marketing specialist, you can become communications or PR consultants for them.
Opportunity 5: Lawyers. If you are a lawyer or a law student, you should consider 2 areas: Climate Change Laws and International Laws. Climate Change Laws apply to those involved in legislations reviews, compliance related issues. International Laws including Intellectual Property is another shining area in the legal practices industry. We met a Climate Change lawyer the other day and he can hardly handle anymore works, but it is currently an under-supply situation, it is very hard to find paralegals or assistants in Climate Change Laws, which means higher pays!
